You will build a foundation of rigorous microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics and can access a range of options, benefitting from the scope and reputation of Warwick Economics large faculty.The MSc in Finance and Economics is managed by the Business School (although much of the course is taught by members of the Economics Department) and you should direct any questions about that course to the Finance Masters Office in the Warwick Business School.For MSc students, assessment is through formal examinations, coursework and an individually supervised research dissertation. Feedback is a vital part of the assessment process, as it helps you to reach your full potential by identifying the strengths and weaknesses of your work and the actions needed to develop your understanding and enhance your performance.
Modules are taught by staff from both WBS and the Department of Economics at Warwick through a combination of lectures, classes and computer lab sessions. Assessment is a mix of exams and coursework with your dissertation bringing all your learning together at the end.The Warwick MSc will give you a chance, as will an MSc from any other institution including Bangor. Applying for a postgraduate place is completely different from UCAS - especially so for PhD. I've seen many people doing their PhD in Cambridge, after graduating from middle-tier universities for both undergrad and master's.
The MSc programmes covered by this Handbook are one year in duration with approximately eight months of taught coursework leading to an examination period, followed by four months of independent research work towards a dissertation.
